Let’s get dressed!

1.2K

When there were no children, the mornings used to start very calmly. Coffee, reading the newspaper, meditating or some exercise… Then, the children arrived, and with them, the revolution began.

The alarm clock has become the starting point for a race to get out of the house and get to school on time. And the greatest challenge is always the same: getting dressed.

If this sounds familiar to you, and you too have dropped out of the gym because this has become your new cardio routine, we’ll tell you how to make it a fun experience for everyone.

1.- Who is faster?
Racing is always a game that our little ones enjoy. A small competition will motivate them to take this moment as a fun one.

2.- Naming the items
A fun way to get dressed and learn the names of the items of clothing is to play this well-known game. Make sure they have their set on the bed, name each element one by one, and when they get it right, reward them.

3.- Animals and colours
You can ask them to identify the pieces in their closet that have a colour or a specific animal drawn or embroidered on them. In this game, your children will have plenty of creative freedom, so be prepared to be surprised by their future trendsetter looks!

4.- What’s the weather like today?
Choosing a look based on the weather is a different way to get your child involved in this activity. Understanding why certain things should be worn will make them do it right away, and they will feel like grown-ups and independent.

5.- Picking the clothes together
The night before, take five minutes to prepare the outfit that they are going to wear and leave it ready so that you don’t have to think about anything the next morning. Making them feel part of the decision-making process is something that will always help to make dressing time (or any other) go smoothly.

Now, you know some tricks to make this moment less of a headache and more of a fun game for your children. Don’t forget to congratulate them at every step, this will reinforce the progress, and you will see that eventually the mornings will be calmer again.
