Back in the past they would dance the cakewalk, foxtrot, jitterbug or charleston, but in the decades of the 40s and 50s boogie-woogie triumphed! It was an acrobatic dance from Afro-American culture, and it was common to use the words “rock” (to shake) and “roll” (to turn) when giving instructions on how to dance it. Over the years, other dances have appeared such as the moonwalk, the famous dance step created by Michael Jackson, the pogo that was born with punk, or the funny funky chicken. Learn how to dance all of them!
Duckwalk: Bend your right knee and lift your right leg. Hop on your left leg and repeat an air guitar solo.
Elvis: Bend your knees and stand on your toes. Lean backward and raise your hands. Sharp rapid movements.
Funky chicken: Pretend to be a chicken, with your hands under your armpits. Flap your wings like you’re trying to fly. Move your feet like you’re walking in place.
Pogo: Feet together, straight back. Bend your neck and let your head fall forward. Jump from side to side, repeatedly.
Moonwalk: Stand sideways. Bring your legs together. Slide your feet backward, one at a time. The secret is never to lift your feet entirely off the ground.
Head banging: Bend your knees. Lean forward. Move your head up and down, like crazy!
